Throughout the past few years, Jennifer has been contending with Hashimoto’s disease.

Jennifer Diagnosis

Even though the American Thyroid Association suggests initiating thyroid function tests at age 35, Todryk received a hypothyroidism diagnosis at the age of 26 in 2014, prompted by unusual symptoms she experienced.

“I recall bundling up in a sweatshirt and still feeling cold,” Todryk recounted.

“Even when it was 100 degrees outside, while everyone else complained about the heat, I remained chilly.”

Given her mother’s previous hypothyroidism diagnosis, Todryk recognized symptoms like fatigue and cold sensitivity as potential indicators of an underactive thyroid. A straightforward blood test confirmed her suspicion.

Two years prior to her diagnosis, in March 2012, Todryk discovered she was pregnant for the first time.

However, three months later, she experienced a miscarriage. Seeking answers and aware that hormonal imbalances, including prolactin, thyroid hormone, and progesterone, could contribute to miscarriages, Todryk requested hormone level blood tests from her OB-GYN.

“I was greatly disappointed when the OB-GYN I consulted during my miscarriage refused to conduct hormone level checks until I experienced three miscarriages,” Todryk expressed. “I found that unreasonable and promptly switched doctors.”

What Does Hashimoto’s Disease Entail

Jennifer detailed her Hashimoto’s diagnosis on her blog, The Rambling Redhead.

“On the homepage, she described, ‘I’ve received a diagnosis of Hashimoto’s.

It’s an autoimmune disorder where my thyroid is the target of my body’s attack,’ she articulated. ‘Essentially, it’s akin to hypothyroidism but with greater severity. Though it poses challenges, I’m thankful for this manageable condition.'”

According to Mayo Clinic, “the condition typically leads to reduced hormone production.”

Jennifer Message on Hashimoto’s Condition and Fertility

In a separate blog post, Jenn shared the impact of her battle with Hashimoto’s on her fertility journey.

“Last summer, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s. I’ve always grappled with hypothyroidism, but I’ve been feeling fantastic for the past few months since I started receiving testosterone pellets in my buttock,” she disclosed in a May 2018 blog entry. “I’ve felt incredibly energized, and my hormone levels have mostly stabilized.”

The television personality also revealed experiencing a miscarriage before being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s.

I experienced a miscarriage during my first pregnancy in 2012, and my current OBGYN discovered that my progesterone levels were critically low, which is the hormone crucial for maintaining the pregnancy until the placenta takes over,” Jennifer explained.

“I truly believe that her intervention spared me from another miscarriage, especially considering my previous OBGYN’s reluctance to conduct hormone tests until after three miscarriages. Absolutely unbelievable. I still can’t believe his stance on that.”

Jennifer Children

Despite encountering numerous challenges in her health journey, Jennifer considers herself fortunate to be the mother of Von, Berkley, and Vivienne, her children with her husband, Mike Todryk.

Her Instagram feed is brimming with delightful snapshots capturing moments with her family of five and cherished memories from vacations that she wouldn’t exchange for anything.

“In all honesty, Mike is the ultimate girl dad,” she affectionately praised her husband in a February 2023 Instagram update.”I appreciate having a partner who, every bedtime, questions our daughters, ‘How did God form you?’ with just one valid answer, ‘from head to toe and all that’s in between, God created me precisely as I am meant to be.'”
