Despite testing negative, the 54-year-old musician shared in a now-deleted Instagram post that he continues to struggle with the effects of the virus.

Dave Narravo Experience of COVID

JANE’S ADDICTION guitarist Dave Navarro has shared his struggle with “long COVID,” a condition marked by persistent symptoms of COVID-19 and other syndromes long after the initial illness has passed.

Less than two weeks after JANE’S ADDICTION was forced to withdraw from this year’s Welcome To Rockville festival due to Navarro’s ongoing health issues, the musician discussed the lasting effects of the virus.

On Saturday (May 28), Navarro posted a new photo of himself on Instagram along with a message detailing his experience: “So yeah, I’m one of the ones who came down with ‘long haul covid’. Been sick since December and supposedly will be back to my old self in… nobody knows how long.”

“If there are any of you who are still suffering long after your negative results, I’m just saying you aren’t alone,” he added. “The fatigue and isolation is pretty awful but try to spend your time with the ones you love and stay creative. That’s how I’m trying to get through this thing.”

Navarro also shared that spiritual practices, meditation, and yoga have been beneficial during this time. He reassured his followers of his eventual recovery, although the timeline remains uncertain.

“PS I’m not sure why I chose this picture to say all this,” Navarro continued. “Maybe because who really cares and you gotta find fun somewhere? Or at least some levity. Love and laughter are wonderful antidotes for a sickness that you really can’t track.”

He concluded by expressing gratitude for the support and requested not to receive messages or texts regarding his health, as he’s tired of discussing it. Navarro sent his love and light to his followers, even those who may find amusement in his illness.

The U.K NHS COVID Report

As per the U.K.’s NHS, coronavirus can induce symptoms persisting for weeks or even months after the infection has cleared for certain individuals. Recovery duration from COVID-19 varies individually.

While many experience improvement within days or weeks, most achieve full recovery within 12 weeks. However, some individuals may endure prolonged symptoms.

The likelihood of experiencing long-term symptoms appears unrelated to the severity of the initial COVID-19 illness. Even those with mild symptoms initially may encounter long-term challenges.

Dave Narravos Addiction

Dave Navarro nursed a notably severe drug habit for years, to the extent that Jane’s Addiction could have easily been dubbed Dave’s Addiction.

According to Detox to Rehab, Navarro’s preferred drugs were heroin and cocaine.

His addiction wasn’t solely a result of the lingering trauma, fear, and loss from his mother’s murder; Navarro himself acknowledged on Instagram that he was already well on his way to addiction prior to this tragedy, a remarkable statement considering he was only 15 years old when his mother passed away.

Navarro’s 2015 documentary Mourning Son didn’t shy away from his addiction struggles and even featured raw footage of his drug use during his youth.

Thankfully, by the time of the documentary’s release, Navarro had adopted a much healthier lifestyle.

He ceased using both cocaine and heroin in the late 1990s, halted intravenous use entirely around 2000, and claims to have been completely clean and sober since 2012.
